Staying signed in

Is there a way to stay signed in? If I go to another app then when I return I seem to have to sign in again.

Apologies if I have missed something obvious.

What device are you using to view the site? I’ve not experienced any issues with being signed out, so it might have to do with the device, or maybe with the way you signed in.

We’ve still a lot to learn about managing the site, so this is also a useful learning moment for us

It’s an ipad 2. I only signed up today but this has been my experience so far. Perhaps it’s my failure to navigate the ipad correctly.

Hopefully @anon5422159 or one of the other Apple people will be able to advise you soon @appletree

No problems staying signed in on my iPad 2. I’ve used my Twitter account to sign in and may or may not have ticked a ‘remember me’ box while doing so.

As @RachaelDunlop says, I suspect it has something to do with ticking “stay signed in” or “remember me” - not sure what the wording is.

Did you sign up with Facebook or Twitter profiles, or with an email/password?

Hi Appletree, and welcome to the forum. The site should keep you logged in. The possible exception to this is if you’re using an in-app browser as opposed to Safari, or if you’re using private mode (you’ll see the bar at the top of your browser is dark grey rather than light grey).

As regards in-app browsers: if you browse to a tweet in Twitter that links to the forum, and click the link, you won’t get a normal Safari browser - you’ll get the Twitter in-app browser. If you log in to SE23.life here, you’ll only be logged into SE23.life within Twitter. You’ll also need to log in separately on normal Safari. I hope this makes sense.

You’ll benefit from putting an SE23.life icon on your homescreen that you use to open this forum. I’ve put some simple three-step instructions here for phones, but it’s’ very similar on iPads:

Thanks, I will try to figure this out. I was just using Chrome on my iPad to go to the website so that must have been the problem.

Thanks, that has solved the problem!
