Missing Snake

Hi everyone, I was alarmed to encounter a snake on my lunchtime walk today! Quite small, with black, red and cream markings and slithering along a passageway, just in the middle of the pavement. Assume its an escaped pet…luckily someone walked by and helped collect the snake into a bag. Its now with him.

Spotted (and temporarily housed) near Ewart Road/Bovill Road.

I would first identify the species. Maybe the zoo can help?

Was it a rusty brown red like this, a female adder:

Or a scary sort if don’t mess with me red? Black, red and yellow bands?

Looks this?

Which is apparently a Mexican milk snake and non venomous but also mimics the more dangerous coral snake …

I don’t think I’m overreacting when I say that it is high time somebody dropped a nuke on SE23.

It’s the only way to be sure…

Lol

Has a permanent home been found for it? If not, I’d be happy to provide one - we already have a corn snake and a leopard gecko. I’m sure we could find room for another vivarium for a homeless milk snake. Amazed he was alive given the weather’s not exactly been warm.
