Lounge area for all members?

Can I ask a question/make a suggestion?

On the assumption that you want to keep most of the content SE23 specific, are there any plans to create a section where all users (not just those who have been verified) can chat about subjects completely unrelated to Forest Hill like the Lounge on the East Dulwich Forum?

Of course!

So we have the #lounge category for general discussion, and you don’t have to be verified to see/post there, just be a ā€˜regular’, which is an automatic ā€˜trust level’ the system assigns to members that have read enough posts, visited enough days and not been excessively flagged - among other criteria.

Getting verified is a way to shortcut your way to ā€˜regular’, but not a requirement.

There are currently 505 member accounts that can see/post in #lounge.

I must admit I’m not terribly familiar with EDF - is there something I’m missing, or something you or others want to talk about, but which the current #lounge doesn’t work for?

Well. That is interesting. I have occasional wondered if there were forums within forums.

The #lounge area is a standard feature of any Discourse install.

Interesting… I’m not familiar with discourse beyond this forum so it wasn’t a criticism. Merely that parts of the forum that are not accessible to all members are occasionally alluded to.

It’s no secret, but I notice that #lounge unfortunately links to a ā€œpage not foundā€ rather than something more helpful if you don’t yet have access.

There are other opt-in categories too e.g. #ethikos, parents, #cycling
