My niece is a carer and my sister is a head teacher of a Nursery going out to check on families and buying them food when needed from her own pocket in a deprived area in Glasgow and are both out working most days and will love this, can I share the image with them @Lionel I am so proud of them and love our video chats where we all dance and sing together. My 80 odd yr Mum who is normally in a wheelchair even got up and done one line of the slosh with us last night. I done the running man and many more dances to make them all laugh, thanks @Foresthillnick for giving me a temporary laptop until I get mine fixed xx

And here it is! Cornwall Road, Waterloo East:

A mural in tribute to NHS workers has been unveiled near to Southwark tube station – of a superhero costume bearing the words ‘NHS’.

The artwork is on Cornwall Road underneath Waterloo East railway station and the location was chosen because of its closeness to St Thomas’ Hospital.

It was completed today by street artist Lionel Stanhope, who observed social distancing rules while painting the piece.

“Network Rail saw a small version of this mural I had done just for myself and gave me the opportunity to do a much bigger version on a wall, to say thank you to all our incredible NHS staff,” he said.

“The location means I can do the work and can still distance myself so this is really the least I can do.”

Lionel has also painted other murals across south-east London from Brockley, Hither Green and Forest Hill.

It takes the total number of murals unveiled on Network Rail property to more than thirty.

The company’s Eddie Burton works with communities to use public art to improve railway arches and bridges.

He said: “We’re really proud of our job carrying NHS workers to their jobs and our stations at Waterloo, Waterloo East and London Bridge are next to key hospitals in London.

“We hope seeing this gives our health workers a boost as we know what an unbelievable job they have been doing.”
