[As a library volunteer] A specious accusation re the library; just get the poster to condense the morass of info into a sensible format like a schedule of activity with timely reminders near each of the dates, as has already been suggested.
Ah. That’s a different story given by admin previously where he has noted topic deletions because they included posts which when taken out of context could be used against him. Or are those other topics.
At least for the most recent one there is a “bookmark” noting it was hidden. To help encourage trust could you provide a list of all the other topics hidden?
I don’t understand. It is important enough for them to ask for the thread to be removed, but not important enough to want more information?
If an officer of the law has requested that information pertaining to a request be removed while they investigate then they are investigating, if someone has information that might be pertinent then surely it is for the officer to decide if they want it or not, or if this is serious or not?
The library information has always been released in this way, as has the recent tragic news and memorial event as well as many other local events Why should we change it now?
You will need to ask the investigating officer that, I am not privy to the information and know as much as you do. A helpful link was posted at the time stating why we closed it.
Regarding the library posts, each topic has a distinct date attached, so forms an entry into the calendar. I’m not sure they all could be amalgamated. I do agree it’s not ideal how these are stacking up, but other than that it’s probably the right way to register them. However, see my suggestion here for changes: Events topics prominence and pacing

Sorry my error, I didn’t realise we knew who the investigating officer was, and I can’t seem to locate that info. Could you let me know who that is. Thanks
How about a pinned ‘what’s going on at the library thread’?
Thanks FH, I forgot that facility!
Simon, we have met a few times, you seemed like a really nice reasonable person. Even if I gave you the officers details, which I don’t have, just how much do you think they would tell you about an ongoing investigation?
I’ve asked the poster to limit their posts to 2 day, which they have agreed to.
There may be other changes we can make, but this small change should make a big difference.
I’m staying off these forums for a good while for reasons that are purely fact based.
It’s pretty despicable behaviour on both sides however I find it highly highly suspicious that 1. CB gets caught out lying directly to members of the forum 2. Is caught making up a fake account to use to his own benefit, something he has been repeatedly accused of in the past. 3. The mods acted extremely swiftly to try to lock/hide the thread within about 12 hours of it all blowing up 4. When some users felt that this was hasty/unfair/not productive a poll was used which was about 2/3 in favour of it staying open but then it got locked/hidden away anyways due to him reporting the stalky/threatening message he received by posing as an imaginary Caribbean food outlet to be opening in FH.
I’m not saying that he shouldn’t flag that sort of behaviour to the police but, admittedly not knowing much about crimes and processes, I would be extremely surprised if the reported information to the police would go to court and then require a jury who may be influenced by the previous thread in question (the names reason for it being locked/removed from sight).
All reeks of trying to hide what has been found out about the whole bizarre situation and damage limitation.
I doubt those that use the forum will be entirely trustful of users/moderators to a large extent going forward due to it which is a shame as forums as a whole should and could be really important and useful to communities.
Good luck to all the real mods/real people still attempting to keep the forum going in the face of everything but I’m bowing out from these forums for the above facts.
Take care all.
Hi, again my apologies, I’m not having a go, but you asked me to ask the investigating officer. My inference was that was therefore something that was public knowledge that I had missed.
In any event I am not expecting any investigating officer to tell me anything, and I don’t think I have implied that is what I was after. I am saying that people could help the investigation potentially, and it should be for the officer investigating to decide what is and isn’t relevant.
I now understand you don’t have this information. Presumably Chris does? Or was the request made to another Moderator?
Please note that I am not accusing you or the team of anything here, I am merely trying to understand.
Thank you! This is very helpful. The facts as I see them are that CB (the owner of the site) initially posted an email on se23 life that contained his name and some personal details, so could have been viewed as threatening, that he claimed to have been sent to him. He did not redact those indentifing details and DID share the Twitter handle of the woman he claimed was harrassing him. He later admitted that he lied and this email was sent to a fake account he set up so he could follow this woman who had blocked him.
It appears that all Chris’s info was in the public domain already. So if anyone is being investigated by the police aren’t people going to assume it is the person making accusations of harassment that they then later admit are misleading on a public forum, not the person who sent an email trying to find out if she was being followed by a fake account? i hope you can see ive stuck only to the facts of whats happened and what chris himself posted and left motivations and explanations out of it.
Hi Simon, no issue at all. If you have information you feel may be relevant to any case I would say take it to the police. If you feel you have information relevant to this case then I will ask for a case number. It may be given, it may not. It is not mine to give.
I am sorry to hear that. The thing is, I can’t tell what is fact and what is not which is why I am leaving it up to the police. If you want to make a decision on what you have read here, or elsewhere, that is up to you. I would prefer to support this forum until we have some form of outcome.
But are those facts or supposition? Or a measure of both.
As I have already said, you can draw whatever conclusions you like, it is a free country.
I prefer to wait for the outcome of the investigation.
I choose to believe Chris’s version of events, so for me those are the facts because they are from what he posted?? I do not see why Chris would lie esp as he was not portrayed in a great light here. The one thing i am not sure about is if there is a police investigation because i do not think a crime has been committed unless there is somethign that has not been said here.
Someone believed a crime had been committed so it was reported to the police.
I know many would find it difficult to believe but I am not taking sides in this, I just want to try and preserve what I see is a very helpful forum for SE23.
If Chris is found at fault then he is on his own. I don’t speak for the other mods but I believe they would agree.
I can say this all day long and still not be believed but that is people’s choices.
Now, it’s a wonderful sunny Sunday and I want to go and sit in it.
Have a good one.
“Life support”? I feel things have got a bit melodramatic.
Members are free to do as they wish. There are alternatives available be they other forums or facebook groups. The forum won’t be dead so long as the site is up and people are still active. Posting on a site to state that it is dead shows that it is the opposite, no?
