Despite former threads I feel this forum is great for the local commuity

But who gets to determine what is facts, and what is speculation? Might is suggest in this instance the police. I personally dont think the internet should act as judge, jury and executioner.

@anon86223367 Had you posted that on any other forum, given the current circumstances, how long do you think it would have stayed up?

Quick practical question- how is our login information stored, i.e. is it encrypted and inaccessible to all?

Of course the police are the ones to decide but if the owner of this site is being investigated shouldjt the users know why and what for???

Passwords are not stored. Only an encrypted version (asymmetric hash)

Hope this helps.

John

@jmoney That is if you presume it is the owner is being investigated, and not the other way around. Should we just leave it at that?

Well yes people are going to presume that given the lack of info aren’t they? This site was all about trust eg verified users but this just seems like stuff is being covered up

I call the bluff of the convenient and crime-number-less police investigation which quickly supplanted the unwanted poll vote to leave CB’s original post up. And the link to some legal warning was ridiculously prompt, heavy-handed and transparently self-serving. I’ll back down when you post the crime number and the name of the police station logging it.

And can you please delete the ridiculous blizzard of FH Library related posts which, while doubtless innocent, are confusing and counter-productive to themselves, and obscuring the true level of traffic on the site.

The credibilty of which is eroding very fast pending (if it ever happens) decisive action by the moderators.

Was there more than one topic hidden then? If so, which ones were they and can I verify if I was a participant in them? If they are about to be a part of a criminal investigation, could be considered prejudicial or be brought forward as material evidence I’d like to know in advance please.

Would it be useful to post information on the investigation? Some people might have useful screenshots, etc. or just further knowledge, contact details might be helpful.

There is very little I can do about trust levels. I would love to have a wonderful reveal where the crime ref number, officer involved and station are revealed, but I am not. Please don’t forget, this investigation concerns two people, you may not give a hoot about one of them be please think of the other.

You may call bluff as much as you wish to but, as explained above, not much will change.

Re the library posts, I am a little concerned that you want a valuable resource like the library silenced.

Hidden over the timeframe this site has existed Starman, not in the last few days.

I am sure that of the police investigation warrants such information they may well ask. If they do I would be 100% behind supplying them with all the help we, and members can provide.

This matter concerns not just two people, but many others who have invested time, effort and faith in what they believed was a trustworthy community forum. They are owed more than obfuscation and a holding action.

@DickWynne Please, by all means contact the local police for information. We will NOT be releasing any crime reference number.

[As a library volunteer] A specious accusation re the library; just get the poster to condense the morass of info into a sensible format like a schedule of activity with timely reminders near each of the dates, as has already been suggested.

Ah. That’s a different story given by admin previously where he has noted topic deletions because they included posts which when taken out of context could be used against him. Or are those other topics.

At least for the most recent one there is a ā€œbookmarkā€ noting it was hidden. To help encourage trust could you provide a list of all the other topics hidden?

I don’t understand. It is important enough for them to ask for the thread to be removed, but not important enough to want more information?

If an officer of the law has requested that information pertaining to a request be removed while they investigate then they are investigating, if someone has information that might be pertinent then surely it is for the officer to decide if they want it or not, or if this is serious or not?

The library information has always been released in this way, as has the recent tragic news and memorial event as well as many other local events Why should we change it now?
