Shannons are fab. Everything I’ve ever bought they tell me how to care for. Everything (and I’m no green thumb) thrives from there. Can’t wait to go there when it’s opens.
Shannon’s are opening their doors on Saturday. We are going to go on Monday, when we hope it won’t be so busy, even though a lot of the stock may have gone, we can still have a look!
According to their website, they’re not open on Monday.
We are hoping to be open to customers on foot by Saturday for a trial period of two days. The opening times will be 10am - 4pm. Entry and exit will be via our back gates in Malham Road SE231AH only.
We will be closed to the public on Mondays to be able to look after our stock and do our ordering.
From Thursday we will be unable to take any email orders and ask that all existing orders are collected before Saturday.
Thank you for letting me know. We will have to go Tuesday instead!
Went along this afternoon and didn’t have to queue for too long. There’s plenty of choice. I got herbs, geraniums and lobelia. They were due to open at 10 but people started to arrive at 9 so they opened earlier. I do hope this means they will survive.
Anyone know if they’ve got houseplant compost? I’ve got a monstera crying out for more space and online advice is to use compost with perlite through it rather than general purpose. It’s a bit of a hike down to Shannons just for that if they don’t have any.
Change of plan. Open tomorrow, Monday, 12-4 according to their Twitter feed.
Hi
We sold out of lthe 8 litres houseplant compost this weekend. It is on order and hopefully should be with us by the end of this week. We have 4 litres £4 if you need a small amount
Thank you
As Saturday and Sunday were our first days open- we are having to see how we go and review our position for the safety of staff and customers regularly-
We need to order, restock and of course water our stock which we can not do with customers in the yard with social distancing in place. We will be open this week-
Monday 12-4pm
Tues-Fri 10.30 -3.30pm
Sat and Sun 10-4 pm
Entrance via gate in Malham Road - last entry 30 mins before closing.
We update our website, twitter, instagram and fb with hours accordingly.
Its great to have cutomers back in the shop again!
Thank you for all your support,
Hi Shannons, I’ve got quite a few empty cardboard boxes - are you still accepting/in need of these?
Thanks for letting me know. It’s 2 20cm pots that I’m planting into so 4l might be fine. I might see you later! So glad to have you ‘back’
HI
yes we are happy to take the boxes you have - if you still have them.
If its ok you can drop to us
Thank you for thinking of us.
If anyone has any spare boxes I’ve just noticed on Twitter that Shannon’s have posted that they are in need of them for customers to use to take their plants home:

Oh great, I have a few, I was about to jump on them and squash them into the recycling bin - happy to drop some off. Do we get to queue jump if we bring boxes
Just got an email from them - looks like they have been busy and it’s great that so many have been putting custom their way…
We have sold out of compost, vegetable seedlings, herbs and we are so low on shrubs and perennials that it is unbearable. We have therefore taken the decision to close the shop tomorrow BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 25th MAY 2020 in order to do our ordering and get as much stock in to be able to serve you better in the weeks ahead.
Pop into Shannon’s earlier today. It was busy already, they still have compost left but no peat free, lots of stuff sold from when I was Las in there so if you are planning an Easter garden change, best get there as soon as you can!
They have deliveries constantly and are always restocking. Worry not.
My husband bought a lilac cherub from there a few weeks. He knew when they should be coming in, & because he was off work at the time, was able to go there in the week, just as well as he said they only had a few left.
My neighbours went at the weekend, & said it was really busy & hardly any stock.
At least they are a business that is thriving though.
So pleased about my new house plants I purchased a week ago such joy. Now one is thinking about buying more… now what and where to place them!! Hubby just called me jungle Jane
mind you 1 has been called worse

Oooh… whatcha buy? Please post them in the Houseplant Hill thread - we’ve not had much new in there for a while. I was going to post my spotted begonia cutting but didn’t want to jinx it…
