I had a phishing email purporting to come from the NHS. It said I had to respond within 24 hours. I have had all 3 Covid jabs plus my flu jab. I’m sure a postal letter is fine though. I don’t see how that can be phishing, but perhaps safest to contact your GP rather than follow any links you get sent especially if via text or email.
All I’m saying on the subject is the booster hurt much more than the first two. Ouch.
I’ve just ignored it!
Gill - are you set up for online access to your medical records? If so then your original two vaccinations and the booster should show in both the medications and immunisations section.
If the booster doesn’t show then you would need to query it with your surgery or where you had it done.
No we aren’t. I was sent a link to book to have my jabs from my GP surgery as I have them done at the Tessa Jowell centre as my surgery is Southwark.
I’ve got the cards to prove I’ve had it done, & I know the 2 previous jabs & the flu jab are on my records, so I’m not worried about it.
I’d still query it with your GP surgery to make sure as mistakes do occur. My first jab somehow got recorded on my records with a totally different batch number to the one that was entered on the card I was given at the time, and turned out to not even be a valid Astra Zeneca batch code at all!
I could do, but I am under the the care of Rheumatology at Kings as well & they are aware that I have had my jabs.
To be honest after the care I have received from my GP surgery this year I am reluctant to contact them about anything!
They are very good at tick boxing. I was asked to book a telephone call with a GP which I had this week. She didn’t even know exactly what she had to talk to me about, apart from checking if I had had a dex scan this year being as I broke my leg back in April. I had the scan back in July, so she looked it up & said oh yes, well there isn’t anything else!
I have had all my three vaccinations at Sydenham Green Medical Centre. Procedures have worked well there and the staff are very helpful. However, on the third visit there were several people turning up without appointments expecting to get a vaccination.
I can see why 're reluctant to contact your GP. Maybe contacting the Tessa Jowell Centre would be easier as they gave you the booster!
No harm in double checking everything. Even pre Covid King’s made mistakes and as for my GP surgery … rolls eyes.
Eg I had to have an iron infusion at Kings. While I was in the department waiting room a very tearful lady came out of the treatment room, to be joined some minutes later by a manager. Turns out the nurse(?) had actually started her treatment before realizing she’d got the wrong patient. The distressed lady had been given the wrong meds.
Then when I had my post iron infusion treatment letter it gave a completely different medical history to mine! It’s still on my GP records, because my GP refuses to remove it as “it came from the hospital and we have to record it on your records and only they can change it”. I’m changing GPs shortly due to moving house and hoping I can get it removed then. It records the medical history of a cardiac patient, with a very, very different issue to mine.
Even my last letter from cardiology had another, different mistake. Arthritis changed to Arteritis. I had to resort to Dr Google to find out what Arteritis is. I’m happy to say my cardiologist has since confirmed I have never had it. It was just a typo. Scared the bejeebers out of me for a while though.
Yes maybe I will.
I waited to see if anything changed. I don’t think the Jenner will be offering them to non priority groups (that’s a guess), but I’ve booked now at Lewisham Hospital next week.
If you do log in to book on the NHS site, you might get a slightly scary looking you are x thousand in the queue, but it moves quikly (took less than 5 minutes to get to the booking page). I booked Monday and got an appointment a week later so there is capacity.
There does seem to be a bit of concern about this new variant so probably worth getting your booster (or indeed 1st or second dose) as soon as you can, especially with Xmas coming up if you plan to be more indoors than normal with others, keeping in mind it takes around (or at least) 2 weeks for some of the benefits of the booster to kick in.
I’m hoping the site updates to the three month criteria as I’d really like to get my booster before I go up to Scotland for Christmas. But the 6 month criteria put first appointment at 23 December by which time I’ll be there.
If needs be, I’ll wait til the New Year. The ONS blood tests are still showing that I have antibodies as of last week!
With typical timing a few hours after my post above the Jenner Practice has messaged and have released quite a few slots! My wife got booked for tomorrow and I am next week so will cancel my Lewisham Hospital one I booked through the NHS site.
Great they are doing it, and I guess others will be send messages also maybe for other GP services that were also doing it previously?
For anyone requiring a vaccine the vaccination centre at Lewisham Hospital has walk-in clinics today and tomorrow and then 6 days a week from Monday. It look’s like the criteria for boosters is still 6 months after the 2nd vaccine though, but with opening for 6 days a week from Monday maybe that will change.

From this article on BBC News website this afternoon it looks like you should be able to book your booster by the 13th December:
I was in town today so stopped in at St Thomas who were doing walk ins. Under an hour from registering to walking out. Guys also doing them (although longer queues/less capacity at that site today) if you’re near London Bridge.
Best of all, they are following new guidelines so you can be between 3-6 months from second dose and under 40.
Is this being advertised anywhere? The wife wants to get hers sorted ASAP rather than wait the six months but she doesn’t want to go all the way into Waterloo unless she’s pretty sure this service is running.
There’s a very useful subreddit, GetJabbed, where people are reporting what’s available virtually in real time. That’s where I initially found that Guys were doing it - and that they’d reached capacity for the day. But St Thomas had spaces.
Sure enough, I got there and all was good. The guy vaccinating me said that Guys/St T are trying to make as many spots as possible available. So Centre 1 at St Thomas wasn’t originally going to be open but, as there weren’t a lot of booked Moderna second doses at Guys, they transferred staff over to St Thomas and opened up an extra walk-in clinic tent which was doing a brisk trade - occasionally a short wait (5-8 people) to register and then about 30 minutes to get to a cubicle.
I’d say go earlier in the day than later but, in theory, both sites are open til 7 or 8pm so long as they have capacity.
Thanks!
