Thanks for this Nick. I’m getting “we’re upgrading our site” type messages. A lot of that going on lately as we’re all foraging online!
To my great surprise, I did manage to get an Iceland delivery this morning
They had bread. But they had no flour, eggs, yeast, honey or loo rolls. Oh and no white wine. The horror! (I’m on to the posh vintage now)
But we did get chocolate and jelly babies and the biggest bottle of Vimto squash in the world, so the weekend is saved.
The Forest Hill Co-op on Stanstead Road still had eggs (medium and large) just before 4 o’clock. They also had a few loo rolls but not many. And I’m sure I saw honey and there was certainly white wine. Only issue was I had to queue for 25 minutes to get in today! - I came across the eggs by chance in a display at the furthest end of the the main central aisles. Can’t remember if it was the first one near the milk or the next one.
I have managed to get an order in!
To be honest I don’t need it really so if anyone here needs bread flour when it arrives then you are welcome to some. I got a 16 kg sack of canadian bread flour so we can split it up if needs be…
Thanks Chris. Good to know. I’m actually trying not to go out at all, due to the dreaded “underlying health condition” thing. I did quite well really on my Iceland delivery and had been due to go to Venice for a week in March and, expecting to be told to self-isolate on our return, we had bought enough long-life type supplies to keep us going for a couple of weeks. As it happens, the Venice lockdown came into force just before we were due to travel, so we didn’t need our supplies and they have kept us going.
Stupidly, I didn’t think to stock up on baking ingredients. I usually have lots in and didn’t realize how much it had been depleted lately.
