I think all the sites mentioned have advertisers, including this one.
Well yes, but presumably regulars on the other forum who are not here are not aware that most of the posts are lifted verbatim from here. You posted evidence that he does. The fact that he deleted your post shows he doesnāt want readers on the other forum to know he is doing that.
So the next question is: why does he not want them to know?
And the answer would most likely be: he copies from threads here that are active, in the hope of kicking off an active thread over there.
Next question: who has a vested interest in driving traffic to that place and not here?
We have paid-for commercial posts, but not advertisers. They are not quite the same.
In presentation terms perhaps but it is still advertising. ETA and an income.
And now all comments on that thread have been removed. So much for creating conversation over thereā¦
Sure, but when I mention adversing, I mean the tickers that generate ad income from across the internet, not just local businesses.
In any case, I wasnāt saying others donāt have advertising. Just pointing out what some people donāt realise, which is that forums generate income for their owners.
Yes appreciate that but the way it read was that TOSS was a commercial site but this isnāt. Just thought that should be clarified.
I canāt see how my post read that way.
Which I think justifies the point I make about there being no difference between linking to EDF and SE23.life. I just hope I havenāt got samuelsen into trouble over there.
I also think it justifies my sense of grievance at being prevented from posting for making an equivalent post to the previous one.
Oh @Michael, so innocent. A link back to this forum was added to the EDF thread. Thatās why the post was deleted.
And yet Iām still unable to post on tāother site.
Thatās so funny!
If you place a āsmall adā and you want to remove it (lets say you sold the thing you were selling) you need to message the administrator to request it⦠
Iām fairly amazed youāve been banned outright, or had the approval setting put upon you.
That said Iām surprised you thought they would leave a link back to this forum in view of all the animosity there appears to be towards this site from the admin of the other site.
Iām not surprised the your post was deleted, but Iād have thought they would just have emailed you to say no links to this site (clearly they are banned which is why you edited your link and explained how to get around it).
You might not agree with no links to here however the choice would then have been yours as to whether to keep posting on that forum with those rules. Iām still staggered after all your input on there itās been done like this. Certainly that siteās loss more than yours.
@oakr - the admin of the other site never responds to an email, and never provides an explanation for his modding decisions. Nor has it ever been stated as a rule (as far as I know) that links to this forum are banned.
Hi Rachael - Iām aware of that, and have had my own posts there deleted (and occasionally re-instated) though I did get a response once to a thread I started that was deleted, though generally deletions etc seem to occur without warning or reasons given. I understand that sometimes from a mod perspective people have their lives to live, and donāt want to spend all day justifying why things have been deleted etc.
Iāve no idea what the actual rules are in general over there, but in view of that fact it canāt be even referenced on here, itās not surprising links to here would not go down well.
Banning or limiting post from arguably the best and most informative poster on the site however is certainly odd, and not a great show of loyalty either. Strange.
Iām quite happy in principle for people to discuss TOSS and link to it from here - as I mentioned above, it is actually possible to link to TOSS from here at the moment, despite the redaction of the site name.
If I get an email from the admin of TOSS withdrawing his prior threat of defamation charges for mentions of his site on SE23.life, then Iāll happily stop redacting mentions of TOSS.
One of the differences here is that there is a team of mods, anyone can see who the mods are, and we are always accessible. We discuss all decisions as a team (beyond basic housekeeping) and aim for complete transparency.
For those that donāt know, the mods can be magically summoned by tagging us in a comment with @moderators.
Man, you lot are so quick and so clever⦠Iām still scratching my head over this MySpace thing.
In fact Iām just about to giggle, no, goggle, no, google it now!
Ask Jeeves.
YES!!
